If you were a fan of B2K and TUG back in the naughties, you might remember the cute half asian, Jhene. She was featured on a couple B2K tracks and was a TUG artist. Always thought she was a real cutie back in my teen days.
Now, she returns as a 23-year old with a little more 'swag'. I picked up her recent mixtape ".sailing soul(s)" couple of months back and thought it was okay, to say the least. But she has been getting huge buzz recently for the tape as she finally drops the visuals for probably the best track of the tape "Stranger". Watch Below:
The mixtape features collaborations with Miguel, Drake, Kanye West and Kendrick Lemar, and is an above-average alt-R&B mixtape. Stylistically, Aiko doesn’t provide anything exceptional (inevitable Cassie comparisons), but delivers some honeyed melodies that are easy on the ear. An enjoyable enough debut, so let’s see how this lady does - Keep a lookout for her.
