New Track: Cocaine 80′s – Six Ft. Over [Hip-Hop/Soul]

Cocaine 80s, led by No I.D., come correct AGAIN with their newest song, “Six”. This soulful jam again join forces with Common and this track has some serious swagger pon the hook. Really nice keys and again some drums that roll nicely. From the new FreEP “Ghost Lady” which you can pick up here. Spring treats for your ears.

New Track: Action Bronson & Statik Selektah featuring Nina Sky – Cocoa Butter [Hip-Hop]

Qualified chef-turned-rapper from Queens, New York, newcomer Action Bronson has built up a loyal following since he decided to leave the kitchen for a recording studio only 18 short months ago. However, the man Rolling Stone Magazine recently called the “Artist to Watch” didn’t stray too far from the kitchen, as he is well known for rapping about his culinary delights.

Action recently linked up with Producer Statik Selektah, and a couple tracks turned into a whole project called "Well Done" to be released on November 22.

New Track: The Roots Feat. Big K.R.I.T. – Make My [Hip-Hop]

The Roots’ forthcoming album undun which features Big K.R.I.T. It is going to be a 10 track orchestral concept album.

Speaking about the album drummer ?uestlove said:

“We’ve been intentionally making our albums shorter in length so that they can be experienced as a continuous work. The music is band-oriented with an eye on the moody cinematic. As a DJ, I am the king of playlists, but I don’t want our albums to feel like a playlist or a mixtape for that matter. We want to tell stories that work within the album format and we want the stories to be nuanced and useful to people.

“undun is the story of this kid who becomes criminal, but he wasn’t born criminal. He’s not the nouveau exotic primitive bug-eyed gunrunner like Tupac’s character Bishop in Juice… he’s actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero. Just some kid who begins to order his world in a way that makes the most sense to him at a given moment… At the end of the day… isn’t that what we all do?”

Can't wait.

Video: Kendrick Lamar – Rigamortis [Hip-Hop]

Kendrick Lamar's album, Section.80 is still on heavy rotation around my place. One of the mos played tracks is "Rigamortis," the fast-rapped track that even Pharrell deemed as "crazy." Like the "ADHD" video, Compton native Lamar shot this one in New York City. Love Lamar's style and relaxation in his delivery - its gold. If you don't have that section 80, your're a joke. =P

Videos: BET Hip-Hop Awards 2011 Cyphers

I get excited every year around this time. Why? for the BET Hip Hop awards, but more specifically the string of excellent cyphers that are produced every year. This year it showcased the verbal skills of respected emcees around the US and even worldwide. This year, the event hosted notable guest/alter hip soul favourites on the mic like, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, MMG, Blind Fury, Stalley, Chris Brown and many more. Watch them as they rip a DJ premo beat up with their freestyles.

In my opinion, the cats that killed it this year were: Eminem, Joe Budden, Royce Da Da 5"9 Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B, Meek Milli, Chris Brown, Kevin McCall, Busta Rhymes, Lecrae, Soprano (French Rap), Nitty Scott and Machine Gun Kelly.

Check it out for yourself. If you are a hip-hop fan, I eagerly advise you to watch all MCs in all the videos. Fresh as Hoodie.

The Drake Sprite ad is sweet too.

Video: Nas - Nasty [Hip-Hop]

New visuals from sir Nasir Jones and his Salaam Remi produced track – peep what he’s up to. Off his tenth studio album which will be out in 2012.

… I’m not mad at this. Nas back to doing what he does best, the video (like the tune and his flow) takes me back a little too. I digs.

New Track: Pac Div – The Greatness (Prod. No I.D.) [Hip-Hop]

Hip-Hop trio, Pac Div and one of my fave beatsmiths No I.D. bring you a track from their upcoming project entitled The Div set to release November, 8th on iTunes. Thanks to HT.

New Track/Video: Kendrick Lamar & Nosaj Thing - Cloud 10 [Hip-Hop]

This one is nice...

You looking at the future in 3 different aspects, Hip-Hop; Kendrick Lamar, Tech; Windows mobile and electronica; Nosaj Thing. This is in promotion of the Windows Me series - The phone and Windows OS is actually quite dope, staying simple, but useful.
"Cloud 10" is a uplifting track with Lamar's lyricism meshing well over a stellar production by the Korean-American beatsmith. The behind the scenes action is below.

Artists Check: Kixxie Siete & Art Official [Hip-Hop]

and yet another dope MC has come into my vision. This time it's Filipino-American Kixxie Siete - who is signed to independent label argonautix.
Did some one say real Hip-hop? - Kixxie's flow and lyricism are on point so I'm not even gonna bother explaining this time. Just see for yourself as he takes on Common's 6th Sense beat.

On some Drake and Noah 40 shizz here but he adds his own fresh flavour with stellar rhymes..

It’s been about a year since the establishment of Argonautic Entertainment & The Yacht Klub with Kixxie Siete. Now, a year later, they announce their 2nd independently signed artist, Hispanic MC - Art Official. To celebrate their anniversary in Yacht Klub fashion, The Argonauts proudly present, “The Breakout“.

Snapbacks and Backpacks vol.3

Artist Check: Logic [Hip-Hop] - Vol.2 Snapbacks and backpacks

Vol.2 in Snapbacks and Backpacks segment. Introducing Logic!

Logic has been on his grind lately releasing visuals, singles, and just overall fantastic music. If you didn’t already know, he’s recently signed to Visionary Music Group under the mentoring eye of soon-to-be household name Tayyib Ali. Last month he released his mixtape Young Sinatra, named for his alternate alias.

Logic is a relatively underground rapper but he’s surfacing fast with his clever wordplay and fast paced flow. He’s got that true hip hop swag, none of that frat rap shit (which I don’t mind from time to time). Logic is about to blow up with this new mixtape Young Sinatra, which consists of 22 songs including Interludes/Skits. It’s more of a free album than a mixtape. It includes some of the most ridiculous and insane sampling I have ever heard.  You can stream and dl the full tape below courtesy of #VisionaryMusic.

Below are two of his videos which display this kids raw talent. Black, white, half-cast - whatever, you can not deny this guy's flow.

Here is the mixtape:

Artist Check: Tayyib Ali [Hip-Hop] - Snapbacks and Backpacks Vol. 1

Vol.1 of Snapbacks and backpacks segment.

Introducing up-n-coming MC, Tayyib Ali - Not to be confused with Talib Kweli. Who is he you ask? - well it goes a lil something like this...

In 2010 a kid not very well known outside of Philadelphia dropped the single ‘Kid Again.’ Before he knew it, he was opening for many artists around the Philly scene. After a number of singles and the release of his first EP Eighteen he was performing in front of sellout crowds alongside artists like Wiz Khalifa, Chiddy Bang, Mac Miller and Cyhi The Prince- becoming a hit amongst the people of the New England area. His fame has now spread to the Golden Coast (as he talks about so poetically in the song ‘California Love’) and over the past few months getting exposure across international boarders due to his youtube videos (Australian Premiere here on AHS). The kid who wears his snapback and his backback is blowing up right now, and being that his sophomore mix tape just dropped a few weeks ago - it’s not too late to jump on the Tayyib Ali train and not feel like a Bandwagon Rider.

Below and above are some of his nicest videos. Once you're done, get ready to delete Rebecca Black from your iTunes library and replace one completely untalented teenager with another swaggeriffic and completely talented teenager by downloading the Keystone State Of Mind mix tape.

Do not sleep on this dude, you guys will regret to when you jump on the bandwagon like many did for wiz.
Download the mixtape here. I repeat do not sleep.

New Track: K-OS ft. Drake - Faith (Part 2) [Hip-Hop]

K-OS has been steadily on his grind for years now, always pisses me off that so many continue to under appreciate him. Exit (2002) & Joyful Rebellion (2004) are must-have albums in my opinion.
In any case, last year he and his fellow Canadian Drake collaborated on a track called ‘Faith’ for K-OS’ Anchorman Man mixtape, now the pair drop off part two. Listen & downloa.

New Track: Common - Blue Sky (Prod. No ID) [Hip-Hop]

Here goes the second single off Common’s forthcoming album The Dreamer, The Beliver (November 22nd) entitled ‘Blue Sky’ and like the rest of the LP was produced by No I.D. In CDQ for ya. Dopeness.
