Local Artist Check: Miracle [Rap]
A Snapbacks and backpacks artist - one for the locals.
You Have probally heard of this young and upcoming rapper who goes by the name of "Miracle" or "Miracle the boy wonder".
No hiltop hood, but hes' also no "Fake Yank" rapper either...Miracle is just.... real.
Born in Ghana, raised in Melbourne and now residing in Sydney. Samson Andah (Miracle) is now ready to take the world by storm.
As a kid, Miracle and his friends used to watch Rap and Hip-Hop music videos and tried to imitate their favourite rappers - where he created major viral fame from his school project video for "Better dayz". Now, Miracle is creating his own vibe in the new wave of hip-hop, Last year he performed at Urban Music festival SupaFest amongst acts such as Snoop Dogg, T-Pain and Nelly. He has now created more fame recording a new mixtape "Before we Meet" released earlier this year. Now Officially re-signing to Sony Music Australia - Miracle is ready to get to work.
I've never been so excited for a Aussie MC. Contrary to common belief, Australia does have some dope MCs with great lyricism - however most of these acts don't have the commercial essence to bring them out of the underground or across the seas. The ones that do, seem to be imitating the US rappers too much with their accent, metaphors and style. However with this new wave of hip-hop blowing over to Australia, Miracle is truly a 'Miracle'. His lyrics feel unforced - laidback, relavant and just 'real'. Not rapping about getting rich, rather rapping for the heck of it.
Just check out his video for "Koolin" if you don't believe me. Just kickin' it by the pool with mates just like a regular Aussie kid. Summer Jam.
Below is his new track "Top Bloke" where he says "Australia on his back and Africa on his chest" - carrying aus hip-hop while reprenting Africa. Hopefully accross the seas - but for now, Australia should get on his back. Iller.

Local Artist: Katalyst [Indie Hip-Hop/Funk]
If you know Space Invadas, then you will know this dude. 1/2 of the Indie SOul group is DJ/Producer Katalyst. Local Aussie from Sydney with some real Production. He has been around for a while, winning 2002 Australian Dance Music Awards for Best Album and Best Producer. Katalyst produces more a electronic, Indie Funk vibe.
His latest "Deep Impressions" EP is out now.

The Resurgence of Israel Cruz/NU FIRM... [Local Artist: Rap/R&B]
Before Filipino-born, Australian raised Israel Cruz was partying it up at the clubs, he was singing about waking up with his girl and old school love (features Local Canberra artist, KG). This was a ray of sun for Australian R&B as it was close to non-existent on the Aria charts during that time, and Israel actually came with some solid material.
He returned in 2007 after doing some work in the states with a short stint with the R&B Jam, Gemini which featured Fabolous.
Then he came back in 08, with his album out of the US, with some potential on Killing me and Do it again - which appealed more to the mainstream, but didn't get the sales it deserved. (Even though I dug his first album more)
Now he returns to the scene as somewhat of a "Rapper/MC" with his NU FIRM crew producing more of a YMCMB vibe with him being likened to Lil Wayne.
I'm not sure what he's trying to prove with his rap skills, but its nothing we haven't heard before. Due to his emotions being laid on the track (he has a inspirational story), the above video is one of his more solid tracks.
NU FIRM has some talented artists such as Miracle, J.Dwight, Casper and Young Mens Society (X-Factor), so I think its good that NU FIRM will get them the exposure they need - However I think Mr. Cruz should stick to the R&B.

Video: Big Guy - We All Try (Frank Ocean Cover) [R&B]
local Aussie, Big guy provides us with his rendition of Frank Ocean's "We all Try". The strings samples Tyga's Reminded.
He is a much improved singer with not the strongest range yet, but his smooth vocals can make you forget all you learnt in music class. Just Listen to the sweet sounds.

New Track: Josh Jakq - Freak Some More feat. Cyhi The Prynce [Alt-Electronic]
Melbourne-based artist Josh Jacko has teamed up with G.O.O.D. Music signee Cyhi Da Prynce for the raunchy tune "Freak Some More." There is no official word on where this tune will end up, but it sure is worth checking out the stream below.

New Video: Lazy J ft. Big Guy - You Don't Have to Say It
Remember these dudes from X-Factor? Well they've been doing their time in the studio and performing at many gigs getting better and better. Here are the visuals for their new track You Don't Have to Say It which dropped yesterday. Big Guy's smooth vocals are not demonstrated here - but damn, this guy can sing. Lazy J lays down some nice barrs with a sweet flow. Solid track.
Keep on the look out for these two guys and their new group HYPE - They on the come up.
